My name is Daniel Joseph Pollert Jr., but I've gone by D.J. my entire life. I'm 26 years old and have decided to go back to college. I graduated from Michigan State University in 2003 with bachelors degrees in Advertising and Sociology. After graduation I was certain of only one thing; I viewed much advertising as deceptive, and a promotion of materialism to an already possesion obsessed culture.......that is I didn't want to be a part of it. Sociology was enlightning, but nothing I wanted to pursue a career in (being a professor or trying to get grants to perform studies). I was fairly certain I wanted to go into education, but needed a break from school. So my girlfriend and I traveled to Spain, took a month long course to earn TEFL (Teaching English as a Foriegn Language) Certificates and taught English in Madrid for one year. We are both now in an application process of a year long teaching program in Japan called JET (The Japanese Exchange and Teaching Program). While in this sort of limbo I've decided to take the first step in becoming a highschool teacher, which is earning a bachelor degree in a teachable major. My hobbies and interests are many, but a few are playing guitar, traveling, reading, writing, soccer and lacrosse. I hope you've enjoyed learning a little about me.
